HOME REMEDIES TO GET RELIEF FROM A TOOTHACHE

Yes, the word that we impatiently look for is quick relief from toothache. Toothaches can occur due to tooth decay, gum irritation, irritation in the root nerve of the tooth or broken tooth.

Toothache can ruin your day as well your night. We would rather skip the horrifying, painful dilemma associated with toothache. Here are a few of the home remedies you must try to get relief from toothaches:

Use Peppermint Tea Bags

They can be applied to the painful area to numb pain and relieve sensitive gums.

Use: Take a used tea bag and let it cool. Apply on the affected area while it is slightly warm. Alternatively, put the used tea bag in the freezer for several minutes and then apply it to the affected area.

Rinse With Salt Water

It is one of the best remedies till you see the dentist.

Use: Mix a teaspoon of table salt into a glass of warm water & swish around your mouth. Make sure you gently floss around the affected area of sore tooth.

Use A Cold Compress

Applying a cold compress to the affected area will help in causing the blood vessels to constrict, helping in easing the pain. Also, it can reduce swelling and inflammation.

Use: Take a towel and wrap some ice in it. Apply it to the affected area for 20 minutes at a time and then repeat it.

Use Raw Garlic or Garlic Oil

Garlic is known as a pain reliever that has medicinal properties.

Use: Take fresh garlic cloves and create a paste from them. Then, apply to the affected area. You may also add a little bit of salt. Nonetheless, you can chew some garlic cloves as well. Alternatively, you can soak a cotton ball in the garlic oil and keep it on the affected tooth.

Use Clove Oil

Using clove at the affected area can help reduce inflammation and pain.

Use: Soak a cotton ball in clove oil and apply it to the painful area. Note: You can also put a drop of clove oil on the tooth. Put some clove oil in a glass of water and use it as a mouthwash.

Asafoetida With Lemon Juice

It is one of the common home remedies.

Use: Take asafoetida and mix half a teaspoon into warm lemon juice or oil. Then, apply it to the painful tooth every 20 minutes till it eases the pain.

Chew Fresh Ginger

Take a small piece of ginger, peel it and then start chewing it slowly near the affected area. When you chew slowly, it will extract out the juice. Make sure you keep it for an hour or so. You will notice a decline in the pain and swelling.

Other Remedies You Can Try To Relieve Toothache

  1. Chew fresh guava leaves. Alternatively, prepare a mouthwash using crushed guava leaves.
  2. Dab a small cotton ball in vanilla extract & apply directly to the affected area.
  3. Rinse mouth with diluted hydrogen peroxide as it will relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
  4. Chew onion slices as their antimicrobial properties will work to reduce swelling around the tooth.
  5. Use wheatgrass juice as a mouthwash.
