Steadfast Nutrition organises health camp for employees

The global era is one of sedentary jobs and extended working hours, which increase the risk of non communicable diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. The Covid pandemic and work-from-home has increased the risk of these disorders. Regular health check-ups are, therefore, imperative in this scenario.

Although India is still a long way from ensuring adequate health benefits for its entire workforce, most Indian corporates are now providing medical insurance to their employees. A few organisations, though, are taking proactive measures to take care of employees’ health and wellbeing by organising health check-ups within the organisation. Steadfast Nutrition is among them.

The company, which firmly believes in healthcare beyond medicine, organises a health check-up for its employees every year. This year was no different. On August 22, a health check-up camp was held within the office premises to ensure employees were in good shape.

A team of technicians from a reputed laboratory conducted tests to measure blood pressure, body mass index, levels of haemoglobin (HB1AC), complete blood count (CBC), functioning of the kidney (Serum Creatinine), total cholesterol, and thyroid function (T3, T4, TSH), among others. More than 150 employees underwent the check-up that day, while the test was rescheduled to August 27 for the ones remaining.

Employees also sought advice related to their health from the team. They lauded the initiative as a welcome measure.

Health check-ups within an office premise save a visit to a hospital. One can learn about their health status sitting in office.

Steadfast Nutrition also promotes health awareness among its employees through initiatives like health blogs, morning and evening posts on nutrition on the WhatsApp group, and celebrating health awareness days like the Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

An employee is an asset to the company. It has become important for organisations to track their employees’ health so that they don’t have to lose their job because of undetected serious problems which could have easily been cured by timely action. Prevention is always better than cure and regular health checkups help identify health issues before they become matters of concern.

Working with an illness can lower productivity by one-third, studies suggest. A minor health issue can snowball into a serious disease if not addressed at the right time.

Steadfast has been organising these health campaigns on a yearly basis because it considers its employees as family.
